JIMENA GONZÁLEZ

Performer. Born in Buenos Aires, she trained (from a very young age) as an actress, singer, and dancer with the best teachers in each field. Jimena has an extensive professional career both in Argentina and internationally. She writes and produces her own shows and what characterizes her in the musical field, is her great ability to perform the songs. 

In her early career she dedicated herself to musical theater, where she worked for 15 uninterrupted years in the best productions in Buenos Aires. However, in the last decade her attraction to music grew stronger and the desire to travel and create her own projects, led her to shift her career and fully embrace the genre that currently most inspires her: the tango.

TANGO

Jimena has just released her first solo tango album titled “Dual”, accompanied by eight great musicians of the genre.

Jimena is the lead singer of the tango orchestra "La Argenta Típica" and the group "Vale 4," with whom she tours Europe. La Argenta Típica, under the direction and arrangements of Fernando Herrera, released its first album a few months ago.

In addition, she was the female voice of Hyperion Ensemble at tango festivals in Europe such as Tarbes en Tango, Mallorca Tango Festival, Zaragoza Tango Festival, Tango to Rome, etc.

Jobs / Experience

Her most recent theatrical work is “LOCA,” a piece with live music that fuses tango, theater, and poetry. The premiere took place at the 2025 Granada International Tango Festival at the Isabel La Católica Theater. Performances were also held at the Málaga International Tango Festival and at cultural centers in Madrid.

In Buenos Aires, she performs solo concerts in various venues and musical spaces. Her last performance in 2025 was a tribute to Carlos Gardel at El Palacio Libertad, accompanied by Joaquín Benítez Kitegroski (bandoneon) and Adrián Enriquez (piano).

In addition to concerts, she had the opportunity to work as a singer at the legendary tango venue "Señor Tango," located in the La Boca neighborhood, in 2017.

In 2022, she formed the tango duo "No Me Vengan Con Milongas" with Fernando Herrera, with whom they toured France and Spain.

In 2021, she formed the tango duo "Cardinal" with the pianist Juan Esteban Cuacci, a group known for fusing music with theatrical poetry. After doing several concerts in Madrid, they concluded their cycle at Café Berlín.

Jimena began her career in musical theater in where she worked for over 17 years. She was part of the casts of the most important productions in Buenos Aires. She worked with renowned directors such as Claudio Tolcachir, Norma Aleandro, David Serrano, Ariel del Mastro, Ricky Pashkus, Valeria Ambrosio, and Marcelo Caballero. She shared the stage with Enrique Pinti, Guillermo Francella, Leticia Brédice, Pepe Cibrián Campoy, Valeria Lynch, Lucía and Joaquín Galán, and Carlos Belloso, among others. Nominated seven times for the Hugo Awards for Argentine Musical Theater, she won twice.

Own projects

• In 2019 with Marcelo Caballero (director) and Juan Pablo Schapira (composer), she created "Piano Blanco," a one-woman musical theater piece in which she interpreted Marilyn Monroe confined to a mental institution six months before her death. The premier was at the Teatro El Método Kairós in Buenos Aires, where the play had a six-month season. Then it toured and was presented in various theaters and festivals.
